Adult Social Care is changing in South Tyneside. We are a forward-thinking Council that is developing innovative approaches to meet our challenges. Focusing on People, Place and Partnerships, with our new 5-year Vision and Strategy for Adult Social Care to help support the next stage of our journey, this is a great time to join us.

Connecting people to their community, family and friends is a key occupational aspect of our work.  We are therefore looking for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist who is fully committed to supporting people in receipt of care and support needs to realise their full potential.  You will be joining an integrated multi-disciplinary team which utilises Let’s Talk Together, our strengths-based approach and as such you will be expected to employ a broad range of interventions and solutions for people with care and support needs.

The role will focus on working collaboratively with our providers to help people live safe and well in their own home. You will take an expert approach of proportionate care, using moving and handling equipment and technology to make reductions where appropriate, encouraging people to utilise support networks where appropriate and with a focus on maintaining independence. Fundamental to fulfilling the responsibilities of this post is the ability to work in partnership and to respond flexibly, positively in an integrated Health and Social Care environment.

Working closely with all our partners our vision for the future is to see every person in South Tyneside with care and support needs “Living Better Lives”, to fully utilise their strengths and assets, to remain safe and well; in the neighbourhoods and communities they call home.
