Temporary Senior Regulatory Support Officer – Food, Safety, Events and Planning Team 

The post will run for three years and will be reviewed after two years, subject to avaialble funding.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to work on a part time basis in our Food, Safety, Events and Planning Team as a Senior Regulatory Support Officer. 

This is an exciting time to join our team of enthusiastic and professional officers who have an established wealth of knowledge and experience with commercial premises across the city. Our objective is to support our local businesses and, in doing so, residents and visitors to the city, ensuring safe, hygienic and well-maintained commercial premises for all to access and enjoy. 
 
What you will be doing: 

To work with nominated officers involved in the inspection of commercial properties across the city, including those required as part of the ongoing food inspection programme. 

Responding to a wide range of requests for service across the team. 

Support and advice for Public Health colleagues in relation to infectious disease outbreaks. 

General assistance with food and environmental sampling procedures and protocol, including help with all aspects of the sampling programme. 

To deal with enquiries, including those of a complex technical nature about the service and in line with our procedures and protocols. 

Always provide and maintain a high standard of customer service.

What we are looking for: 

Ideally an understanding of the local authority regulatory framework, guidance, and good practice in relation to Food Safety and Health and Safety. 

An ability to work alone or as part of a team. 

An ability to deal effectively with members of the public and business operators enquiries. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required with proven ability to deliver services. 

An ability to organise and manage your workload to meet team objectives. 


We will provide you with a laptop and other essential equipment to support working in an agile way. There will be a requirement to work from the Civic Centre some days per week to meet colleagues and work in a collaborative environment.
