Do you want to join an organisation where our workforce are ‘positive about the support they receive from their managers.  They are clear that the environment feels safe.  Staff are positive about the changes in the culture of the service and their morale is high’? (South Tyneside Ofsted Report August 2024)

In South Tyneside our children and families are at the forefront of everything we do.  We want every child and family to feel supported in times of need and empowered to make the right decisions. We take pride in our social work teams, where staff are valued and supported and where we work together to drive this vision forward.

We are embedding relational and restorative practice principles in our work, and you will be part of a team focused on achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

Children Cared For (CCF) – We are proud to be an established and strong service that is committed to ensuring all children cared for in South Tyneside have what they need to meet their potential. We have a strong base of values and principles built on relationships and trust that strives to provide support for children to be the best they can be.

Working within a highly regarded, efficient and caring service you will be one part of two social work teams consisting of a Practice Manager, Assistant Team Manager and six social workers. You will be based at the MarketPlace alongside our colleagues in Leaving Care, Kinship, Fostering, Virtual School and Participation.

We know this work is complex and can be challenging and we ensure staff are safe and supported. You will work in a small team where you will benefit from strong guidance and oversight, and access to a management team that is visible and approachable.

We have a good training offer, and all practitioners have access to an online research and resource offer. Our staff tell us they feel listened to, valued and supported, we regularly celebrate good practice, and our aspiration is to ensure you will have a caseload of no more than 17 children maximum at any one time.

If you are not yet a progressed social worker you will be supported through our career progression framework, and when ready, complete a progression portfolio, as well as access to post qualifying training, including practice education.
