Further Information
Newcastle Educational Psychology Service is seeking to appoint 4.0 FTE permanent Educational Psychologists, to start as soon as possible. These posts represent an exciting expansion of our team, enabling us to develop and extend all aspects of our work.
The successful candidates will join a positively regarded team, currently consisting of the Service Manager and Deputy Manager, 13 FTE EPs (including two Specialist Senior EPs), two doctoral trainee EPs and an Assistant EP. The service is highly valued by schools and settings and all Educational Psychologists are involved in a range of preventative and early intervention work as well as undertaking statutory duties. The Local Authority is committed to the delivery of core (non – statutory / non – traded) work focusing on a range of cross LA and school priorities, which has led to the development of new and innovative ways of working. All Educational Psychologists in the team have the opportunity to develop specialisms and areas of interest. The EPS is well positioned within the Local Authority and is engaged in strategic level work across the Education Division and the wider Children and Families directorate. There are very close working relationships with other SEN services and excellent links with the Newcastle University doctoral training course.
Applications are welcome both from fully qualified colleagues and doctoral trainee EPs who are currently in either Year 2 or Year 3 of their course. Flexible working arrangements are available including term time only working.
Three of our most recently appointed Educational Psychologists have said:
"It has been fantastic to become part of an enthusiastic and supportive team, where psychology is at the centre of everything we do.
Since starting at Newcastle, I have engaged in a range of work, with diverse populations."
"I’ve found there is always someone in the team there to bounce ideas off or to help me figure out tricky situations.,
The well-established relational links with wider LA teams are strong and lead to effective collaborative working."
"I feel able to explore new ways of working and expand and develop my practice; the core offer provides a range of opportunities to think differently and work creatively. The supportive ethos from management and the wider team means that I feel contained and supported."
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
