Callerton Academy is an exciting and thriving new secondary school where staff are highly valued and invested in to be able to become exceptional practitioners. Being part of our growing school and supportive English department is ideal for candidates embarking in their first years of teaching as an ECT or for candidates who are looking to take on responsibility in the coming years.

As a school we are committed to providing the very best education for pupils from Year 7 to Year 11. For the first four years, we have been based in our excellent temporary site in Newcastle’s Graingertown. In September 2025, we will move to our brand-new site which will have capacity for 1200 students; this is located to the northwest of the city. ABOUT THE ROLE

For this Teacher of English position, first and foremost, we are looking for someone who loves English. We are developing a strong team of practitioners at Callerton Academy who can be versatile and are keen to be involved in many and varied aspects of school life; particularly during the coming years while the school is growing. You will be an important part of our growing school and will be, a consummate professional, practical and ‘hands-on’. 

Inspected in January 2024, the school was awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted citing that our students are well behaved and that our curriculum is highly ambitious and inclusive. We recommend you read our report, which can be found here.
