English Lead, KS2 Teaching Vacancy with TLR 2a - Maternity cover (not suitable for Early Career Teachers)
The Head Teacher and Governors of Hawthorn Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic English Lead who will also be an experienced and outstanding KS2 class teacher. The successful candidate will have the ability to promote high standards of achievement in our vibrant, popular and successful inner-city primary school. Hawthorn is an inclusive one-form entry primary school in the West End of Newcastle, with pupils from Reception to Year 6. Our school has been described as an “oasis” and we are very proud to work closely with our local community. Our dedicated staff work hard to give our children new experiences, prepare them for secondary school and give them a desire for learning that will last their whole life. The post involves working closely with SLT and our Early Reading and Phonics lead contributing to staff development and continuously improving outcomes for our pupils. We are looking for a strong team player, who is resilient and able to communicate effectively with all members of the school community.
Posts required to start after Easter break (28.4.2025)
The post is a full time, and fixed term for maternity cover, MPS/UPS £31,650 – £49,084 per annum depending on relevant teaching experience and the addition of a TLR2a (£3,391) for the specialism with English. The contract will commence on 28th April 2025 until 5th June 2026 or earlier depending upon the return of the post holder. Due to the requirements of the role, this opportunity is unsuitable for Early Career Teachers. We are open to considering a secondment arrangement.
