Join our dynamic highway design team and play a key role in shaping the future of Newcastle’s transport and highway infrastructure. We are involved in a diverse range of projects, from designing new roads and junctions to improving traffic flow and promoting sustainable travel options.

As an Engineer Grade 4, you will be a vital part of our team, contributing to the design, development and delivery of a wide variety of schemes. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that directly impact the lives of Newcastle residents, making our roads safer, more efficient and more sustainable.

Your responsibilities will include
Undertake the design of highway schemes, including new roads, junctions and public realm improvements.
Develop and implement traffic management schemes to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
Contribute to the design and implementation of sustainable travel schemes, such as cycle lanes, safer crossings, bus lane infrastructure and blue green infrastructure.
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, drawings and technical specification.
Liaise with colleagues, contractor and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
A HNC in Civil Engineering
Experience in highway design and highway maintenance.
Knowledge of relevant design standards and legislation.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and other relevant design software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
