Are you a qualified social worker?  Could you Be the difference and be part of a team to drive through our improvements?

In South Tyneside our children and families are at the forefront of everything we do.  We want every child and family to feel supported in times of need and empowered to make the right decisions.  We take pride in our social work teams, where staff are valued and supported and where we work together to drive this vision forward.

We want social workers who have real commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people and their families. With a specific passion for supporting children with disabilities and their families. We want social workers who are confident in carrying out assessments, assessing risk, presenting evidence in court and capable of accurately reflecting and reporting complex information to a variety of audiences.  We want social workers who are organised and able to manage their workload independently, demonstrating initiative and creativity in their interviews and with the plans they make, whilst also being able to respond to unexpected situations and deal with potential conflict.  We want people who are creative in their work with children and are able to adapt this to the differing communication skills of the children we work with. We want people who care and have ambition for the children and young people they work alongside. We are looking for social workers who have experience of working with children in need and of carrying out safeguarding investigations in a multi-agency environment, we want team players.

We know this work is complex and can be challenging and we want to ensure staff are safe and supported.  You will work in a small team where you will benefit from strong guidance and oversight, and access to a management team that is visible and approachable.

If you are not yet a progressed social worker you will be supported through our career progression framework, and when ready, complete a progression portfolio, as well as access to post qualifying training, including practice education.
