Further Information
Newcastle City Council is seeking to appoint Public Health Practitioners within our ambitious and passionate Public Health Directorate.
We are looking for excellent candidates who are wanting a challenge and focused on using their public health expertise and experience to make a meaningful improvement to the health and wellbeing of Newcastle residents.
The successful candidates will be responsible for driving and influencing public health action across the Newcastle system. Candidates should be committed to addressing health inequalities by contributing to the overall aims of the department service plan and local authority priorities.

Practitioners will be expected to have experience of collaborative working and stakeholder involvement with a broad range of partners across the domains of public health and including community engagement. Candidates will be experienced in developing and implementing projects and programmes, coordinating delivery, and evaluating interventions that have made meaningful impact to population health and wellbeing.

Applications are sought from individuals with a postgraduate qualification in a Public Health or related field (or equivalent experience) and who have a broad and detailed knowledge of public health practice. This role will suit someone who is passionate about addressing health inequalities and keen to develop their experience of contributing to local, regional policy and practice.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have, or are working towards, UKPHR registration and who are seeking further learning and development opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, where curiosity and a commitment to tackling inequalities are essential attributes. The role will be challenging and varied, and you will need to be flexible, able to work autonomously, and prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadline. You will need excellent oral and written communication skills and be an effective team player.

We offer flexibility with both part-time and full-time hours for this position. Please feel free to discuss your availability with us during the interview to determine the best arrangement.

For an informal discussion please contact nida.memon@newcastle.gov.uk

Interviews will take place on November 19th, 2024, at Newcastle Civic Centre
