Support and inspire change to make a difference for children and families in South Tyneside.
 
We are excited to offer this opportunity to join our renowned Participation & Engagement Team and contribute to the development of this exciting service that ensures children and young people are listened to and involved in their lives and the decisions that affect them.
 
As someone with knowledge and experience of children who are cared for and care leavers, you will lead on the development and delivery or our Care Leaver Engagement Programme, support groups within our Children in Care Council portfolio, and contribute to a new area of work to increase the volume and visibility of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people.
 
As someone with knowledge and experience of engagement work with children and young people, you will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong track record of supporting children to have their voices heard. Experience and knowledge of cared for children and care leavers will be vital for successful candidates.
 
As a Participation & Engagement Officer in South Tyneside, you will:
  • Be supported to develop and deliver an engagement programme that captures the voice of children and young people
  • Lead and support regular groupwork activity with children and young people
  • Be encouraged to bring a creative and innovative approach to the role and the methods of engagement with children and young people
  • Work flexibly, including regular evening activities and occasional weekends
  • Access a broad range of training and development, both formal and informal
