The Governors of Brunton First School are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Facilities Supervisor, to work at our welcoming school as a member of a hardworking and committed staff in a highly supportive environment where teamwork is valued.
The Facilities Supervisor will work under the direction of the Headteacher and School Business Manager to provide a safe, clean and high-quality learning environment for the pupils and staff of Brunton.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has good customer service skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with problems on site.
  • Knowledge of cleaning standards with the ability to undertake cleaning tasks.
  • Capable of daily stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying of equipment, materials, furniture and climb ladders.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Good spoken English with the ability to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Experience of supervision of staff.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and how to apply them in the workplace.
  • Is self-motivated and able to stick to deadlines.
  • Is willing to work split shifts and overtime.
  • To carry out a variety of tasks to ensure the school premises are of a high standard including own designated are of cleaning.
  • To ensure the smooth running of the plan and systems.
  • To supervise cleaning team.
  • To be able to manage and control stock.
  • Thorough approach to work and attention to detail.
  • Able to work at height.
  • Ability to work both as a team member and unsupervised, using own initiative, where necessary.
  • To respond to adhoc support for cleaning in all areas of the school when on site.
  • To ensure the smooth running and safety of the site at all times.
To succeed in this role, it is essential that you must be able to undertake the split shift requirements of the role.

You will be responsible for the security of the premises, setting alarms, general health and safety issues relating to the building, as well as a range of porterage duties.  There will be a responsibility for the supervision of cleaning staff.

You will be expected to be able to deal with varying workloads and the cleaning of a defined area.  You must be able to manage your own time.

There will need to be a degree of flexibility around certain key events in the school calendar e.g., parents’ evenings, governing body meetings, Christmas, and summer fairs etc. which will be arranged at the start of the academic year. You will be expected to be available to undertake lettings for the school when required.
Qualifications/Training
  • First Aid certificates and recent Health and Safety training would be an advantage.
  • Experience of organising and preparing for planned maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ability to promote a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
